We've arranged a private tour that's sure to fasci- nate and satisfy your curiosity about the process of steel-making and the material's limitless uses. e tour begins in a yard where cans, appliances, cars, and other scrap steel are sorted. Giant electromagnets pick up and move the scrap to the melt shop, an enormous furnace controlled by computers, as part of Nucor's recycling commitment to environmental sustainabil- ity. e tour gets even more exciting from there. e lid on the furnace opens every few minutes, allowing a glimpse of the fiery hot processing. After the tour, we'll cool off and walk a couple of blocks to American Spirits: The Rise and Fall of Prohibition at MOHAI Saturday, May 16 Step back in time to an era of flappers and suffragists, bootleggers and temper- ance lobbyists, and real-life legends like Al Capone and Carrie Nation.
