S potlights and party dresses. Comedians and collegiate boxers. underous applause and delicious dining. It all came together at the 18th annual Main Event this past January. Back-to-back nights of elegance and athleticism drew nearly 500 members and guests to the Club on January 23–24. e nights began with cocktails, dinner and comedy in the Crystal Ballroom. From there, the action moved upstairs to the 8th Floor gym for college boxing, including bouts with local favorites from the University of Washington. e Main Event is widely considered one of the best nights of college boxing on the West Coast. Fighters from around the country get a chance to show their skills in a sophisticated setting unlike any other on their schedule. Audience members, meanwhile, don formal attire and enjoy a throwback evening that reminds of the golden age of professional pugilism. "It's a signature night for us," Senior Vice President Athletics, Special Projects & Community Partners Wayne Milner says. "e Main Event has exploded in popularity the past few years, and it's great to see so many people enjoying our unique combination of college athletics and WAC entertainment." e Main Event will return in January 2016. Tickets go on sale later this year. Keep your eyes peeled. If 2015 is any measure, they'll sell out long before the opening bell.
