30 | Washington Athletic Club Magazine | APRIL 2014 Seattle Marathon Seattle's oldest marathon is also its hilliest and wettest. Seattle Marathon finishers in 2013: 2,125. RAMROD: Ride Around Mount Rainier in One Day The WAC Golf Club schedule takes members to the best courses in Western Washington. Golf Trophy Lake, No. 18 With two ponds, a creek, three bunkers, and a steep hillside guarding the approach to the green, what makes this par 5 so beautiful is also what makes it so hard. "You've got to know your club distance," WAC Golf Club member Greg Owens says. "I usually hit a 5-wood. At least I'm still standing." "PEOPLE MAY SKIP A WEEKEND, BUT EVERYONE GETS GEARED UP FOR THE TOURNAMENT [AT TROPHY LAKE]." —Greg Owens "[RIDING RAMROD] IS JUST BEAUTIFUL—THE MOUNTAINS, THE TREES, THE STREAMS, THE DEER; BEFORE I'D ONLY SEEN THE ASPHALT." — Jack Anderson J O N AT H A N S C H M I D T
