Box 1709 Seattle, WA 98111-1709 WAC and Washington Athletic Club are registered trademarks of the Washington Athletic Club. Letter from the President & CEO Chuck Nelson, President & Chief Executive Officer / cnelson@wac.net T he calendar says it's spring, so let's believe that! Although we know it wouldn't be wise to put away our umbrellas and raincoats, we're also making sure the golf clubs are dust-free, our hiking boots still fit, and our outdoor gear still looks great. Now comes the moment of truth when our commitment to fitness through the winter months pays off and we can break out the sunglasses and sprint our way around Green Lake or down the Seattle or Kirkland waterfront. It's time to leverage your WAC training and take to the hills and roads and golf courses. Through the WAC's many clubs within the Club, you can train, compete, and participate with your friends from the community that is the Washington Athletic Club. Take advantage of the camaraderie and support that comes from sharing the ride with fellow WAC members—and the great opportunities available because of the Club's relationships with area golf courses. On the governance side of this wonderful institution, I want to encourage you to review and support the nominees for the Club's Board of Governors. There is a great history of member leadership at the WAC. It's a commitment that takes time and energy and is not undertaken lightly. We can all be grateful that this wonderful group of people is willing and enthusiastic to participate in the stewardship of this historic Club and the shepherding and guidance of its exciting future. The Washington Athletic Club sits square in the middle—literally and figuratively— of a wonderful opportunity. This region is among the nation's most vibrant, growing, and entrepreneurial places to live, work and play. The proposed downtown gondola project, to run from the Washington State Convention Center to the new exciting waterfront, is an example of this and a great chance to bring even more energy to the WAC's part of town. The Club offers active, unique, and first-class activities across all parts of our lives and for all phases of life. We can hike, bike, jump, eat, drink, ski, paint, eat, drink, dance, tour, laugh, swing, eat, drink, network, pedal, paddle, laugh, cry … did I mention eat and drink? ... all within the confines of the Clubhouse or at a WAC–related activity. As a Clubhouse and as a community, the WAC is here for you. The WAC is here for you
