You'll learn why the VTS was created and how it has evolved. After a tour, we'll join the staff for lunch in the galley. Then go aboard and tour a highendurance cutter—or other ship in port—to see what it's like to be part of a maritime mission. We'll end our visit in the on-site museum to discover a wealth of memorabilia from the Coast Guard's history, including ship models, uniforms, and sea stories. Comfortable nonskid shoes are a must. Women should wear slacks for climbing ship ladders. Children must be 8 or older and accompanied by an adult.
