A Tribute to Ray Charles at Benaroya Hall Saturday, June 6 Ray Charles was truly one of the legendary voices in American music. e Seattle Symphony ends its season with a tribute featuring Ellis Hall, a former protégé of Charles. In 2001, Hall met the legendary musical icon. Charles was so taken with Hall's performance power that he took the artist under his wing. e following year, Charles signed Hall as the only other artist on his label, Crossover Records. Following the death of Charles, Hall created a show in his honor—calling it A Tribute to Ray Charles, Motown And Beyond—and performs with symphonies around the world.
