It included their own private areas of the Club and a host of activities. Hundreds of women were eager to engage in athletic and social opportunities and were not deterred by the nation's economic slump. In fact, the Associate Women's member- ship category remained strong during the Depression—identifying the Club as an essential source of stability, camaraderie and entertainment. Soon, the Club calendar was packed with programs for men, women and children, creating value and a thriving community for the entire family. It further cemented the WAC as an integral part of members' lives and a necessity in hard times.
