28 | Washington Athletic Club Magazine | APRIL 2014 Mount Si Start your day by scaling a mountain. The most heavily used trail in Washington goes up 3,150 feet—the height of five Space Needles—in just four miles. Bring plenty of water, a cheerful attitude, and your camera for the incomparable view at the top. Poo Poo Point An ideal picnic hike, this trail takes you up switchbacks to a bald spot on the southeast face of Tiger Mountain. When the sun's out, you'll bask in it while watching paragliders launch from one of their favorite local spots. Alas, no one offers free flights back to the trailhead. At 4,167 feet, Mount Si is higher than the highest point of 24 U.S. states. Once a busy logging spot, Poo Poo Point gets its name from the sound of logging whistles—thank goodness!
