22 | Washington Athletic Club Magazine | NOVEMBER / DECEMBER 2015 Teamworks JULY KINYA JONES PERSONAL TRAINER AUGUST D.B. RAI HOUSEMAN D.B. found his first job as a houseman at the WAC after coming to Seattle from Nepal in 2012. Eager to learn, D.B. diligently worked to become proficient at every function of the housekeeping department—houseman, room attendant, room inspector, turndown and minibar attendant, shift opener/shift lead, special projects, and linen room attendant. He continues to perform all of these roles and duties with excellence and thoroughness. "D.B.'s overall performance and enthusiastic approach to his job is the example that every housekeeping employee should aspire to," Executive Housekeeper Carl Meyer says. "I value his honest and insightful communication on all housekeeping matters and, above all else, his tireless desire to promote teamwork, camaraderie, and mentor his coworkers." After working as a personal trainer in California, Kinya moved to Seattle and has been a WAC team member for the last year and a half. Her training and certifications in TRX, kettlebell instruction, Functional Movement Systems, Animal Flow, and more have proven invaluable to her clients, who appreciate her technical expertise and personal feedback. Kinya leads eight classes a week and also provides detailed personal training services to members. Fitness Programs Manager George Sommerrock says Kinya is "the sunshine and inspiration for the WAC's morning Xcelerate classes." She is also eager to keep up with fitness industry developments and challenge herself. "She is always willing to go the extra distance to deliver first-class services," George says. "Her passion is contagious and makes her a complete joy to work with." SEPTEMBER GARY MORAVEC HAGERTY'S BARTENDER TEAM MEMBER OF THE MONTH After 13 years of bartending on the 2nd Floor, Gary still receives rave reviews from members and team members alike for his quality service, positive attitude, and dedication to the job. Nearly two dozen team members, managers, and executives supported his nomination. "Gary is the first one to point out when there is something to improve upon from a member's point of view," Restaurant Operations Manager Jared Johnston says. "I have never seen Gary have a bad moment, much less a bad day," adds Vice President Food & Beverage Peter Christian. "His service DNA is so perfect that he lifts everyone up around him."
