Box 1709 Seattle, WA 98111-1709 WAC and Washington Athletic Club are registered trademarks of the Washington Athletic Club. Letter from the President & CEO Chuck Nelson, President & Chief Executive Officer / cnelson@wac.net / @cnhuskies13 C elebration: To observe a day or commemorate an event. To have or participate in a party, drinking spree, or uninhibited good time. To rejoice in or have special festivities. Wow! My dictionary pegged Jubilee perfectly. Commemorating the 86th anniversary of the grand opening of the Washington Athletic Club, this year's Jubilee is sure to be another great time. Come December 4, WAC members and guests will put this definition in action. With the Clubhouse turned into a funhouse, this year's party—titled The Art of Celebration—will fill the Club with joy and, as stated in the promo materials for a 1930s version of Jubilee, "goodly jollity.'' And Jubilee does not stand alone in this holiday season, which includes a spectacular run of annual events worth highlighting, from GingerMania to Shoppers Teas to our Holiday Open House and beyond. There is plenty for WAC members to choose from. Better yet, don't choose—hit them all! There is no better place to feel the holiday spirit than the WAC Clubhouse, with its traditional and impressive decorations and tree, not to mention the Mercedes parked in the lobby! Speaking of our Clubhouse, the entire facility continues to be busy, with strong usage in the athletic areas, spa, and restaurants. The Inn at the WAC has been busier than ever, with record-setting occupancy. The investment made in remodeling the guest rooms of the Inn a few years ago has really paid off as members and sponsored guests repeatedly return and rave about the quality and outstanding services of our unique hotel option. As you read this issue of WAC Magazine, take note of the international flair. The community that is the WAC is a broad one. This month we call out accomplishments and highlight members from South Africa, Sri Lanka, and the far-off exotic land of British Columbia. As you'll see, the value of WAC membership comes in many different forms. One of the great strengths of the Club is the diversity of community and the multiple ways the breadth of our programs, facilities, and opportunities give birth to important member experiences. We are all in this great adventure of life together. Please enjoy the holiday season and the spirit it brings. The WAC exists to engender joy in people's lives, and this time of year helps spread that feeling. Kindness, service, family, appreciation and humility—all rolled into one great community. Blessings to all! The season of "goodly jollity"
