I'd love to have you join me to toast the Club's birthday and to celebrate our WAC community. I've never stopped until just now to reflect on why I love Jubilee. My reflection took me down a few paths. Certainly, the visible excitement leading up to the event is fun—peering in the window of a fancy new car parked in our lobby convinces me that one day I'll win the grand prize. Chatter around the Club as members make advance plans to attend Jubilee always builds my enthusiasm, and a bit of anxiety as I think about what to wear and how to best tackle a night that offers so much variety. As I thought more about Jubilee—this year set for Friday, December 4—I realized what I love best about our biggest event of the year. It's the magic I feel as we enter the Club. It's a sense of being transported back to all the Jubilees that have come before and knowing that generations of Club members have shared the same excitement. It's a grand tradition that has sustained for more than eight decades, and we're the lucky ones who get to keep that tradition alive. Seeing the Club on Jubilee night is always a thrill. It looks dramatically different than at any other time, and the excitement creates an electricity you can feel in the air from floor to floor. And who could resist the Crystal Casino? I'm no card shark, but come on, blackjack! The food, meanwhile, is enough to fill your entire night. No Jubilee would be complete without multiple trips through the buffet lines. We typically close the evening with late-night breakfast, a special treat for those of us who make it to the wee hours. WAC team members work hard to make this the Club's best night of the year, and it shows. And when it's over, in what seems like the snap of a finger, they transform the Clubhouse back to the place we know and love every day. For all the details on this year's Jubilee, see page 32. Whether you come every year or have never been before, I invite you to help make Jubilee 86 a night for the ages. Kick off the holidays in style Jubilee 86: e Art of Celebration Remember that on Friday, December 4, only Jubilee attendees and registered Inn guests will be allowed Club access after 5 pm. Please join the party! For much more on Jubilee, see pages 32–35.
