20 | Washington Athletic Club Magazine | NOVEMBER / DECEMBER 2015 Giving back to the WAC team Annual appreciation fund offers a chance to say thanks T he holidays are here, and for many of us this is a time of gathering, giving and gratitude. The WAC often plays a role in our plans. We gather our friends and family here to share a meal or raise a glass. Some of us gather our colleagues from work to celebrate the season in Torchy's or Hagerty's. Many of us hold those holiday pounds at bay by stepping up our visits to the fitness floors. The team members at the WAC are the heartbeat of all the moving parts that make the Club the place to be during the holidays. Every floor I visit, every meal I eat, and every towel I touch, a WAC team member has touched first. I often reflect on what a special place the WAC is. It is special because the team members truly care about our well-being and about ensuring that our expectations are met every time we come in. I happen to know that WAC team members refer often to the family-like atmosphere that exists here at the Club. They love this place just as much as members do. The Team Member Appreciation Fund is a long-standing tradition at the WAC. This month, you will see $45 on your monthly statement earmarked as a gift to our team members in December. This is a suggested amount. Of course, you are certainly free to increase that if you like. The Team Member Appreciation Fund is so important to the wonderful people who serve us each and every day. For many team members it is the difference between having enough to go around during the holidays or almost enough. I am told that many team members use their gift not only for their own families but also for our wider community by donating to the worthy causes they hold close. Thank you for your continued membership and support of this great Club. When your bill arrives this month, I hope you will reflect generously on all the interactions, little and big, you have with our wonderful team members. And I wish you a warm and joyous season of gathering, giving and gratefulness.
