HolIDaY scHeDule fOURTH Of JULy 2013 weD 7/3 NEW tHurs 7/4 FrI 7/5 Food backstage at The Ring catering office Opera fans come to Seattle from around the world to see this production of Richard Wagner's Ring Cycle. This chance to go behind the curtain of a world-class production with Seattle Opera's 23-year veteran technical director, Robert Schaub, will forever influence your perspective on stage productions. Schaub's technical wizardry has helped put on Emmy and Tony awards shows. His consummate understanding of everything backstage is second to none. At this late-afternoon event, you'll see the stage transform from Siegfried to Götterdämmerung—two of The Ring's four operas. A planned rehearsal by the flying Rhine Daughters is also in the works. Schaub will narrate what we see and take us to areas reserved strictly for technicians and artists. He'll discuss lighting (and how it helps tell a story), props, sets, and backdrops. You'll also learn how special effects, such as pyrotechnics, are created, and see a few of the hundreds of costumes featured in the operas. Following the backstage tour, we'll take a leisurely stroll to the Seattle Center Armory for MOD Pizza, a side salad, and your choice of soft drink. Event includes guided backstage tour and late lunch. 2–4:30 pm; $22; cancel by July 9 8am-5pm Closed 8am-5pm torchy's saturday, July 13 7am-9pm Closed 7:30am-9pm sports café 6:30am-6pm 7:30am-8:30pm cClosed room service 6:30am-9:30pm 7am-8:30pm 7am-9:30pm lobby lounge Closed Closed Hagerty's 11:30am-10pm Closed Beverage torchy's lounge 3:30pm-9pm Closed 11:30am-10pm Closed 3:30pm-9pm coed Fitness ctr. 5am-10pm Closed 5am-10pm men/women Fit. 4am-10pm Closed 4am-10pm men/women lkr. 5am-10pm Closed 5am-10pm sport shop 7am-7:30pm Closed 7am-7:30pm swimming pool 5am-9:30pm Closed 5am-9:30pm athletics gym & track the gershwins' Porgy and Bess June 11–June 29, 2014 Set in the slums of Charleston, South Carolina, this Tony Award winner for Best Revival includes the classic songs "Summertime" and "I Got Plenty of Nothing."
