16th Annual GingerMania Sunday, November 15 Last call for the WAC's 16th annual GingerMania! A preconstructed ginger- bread house, a sleigh full of candy, a large pastry bag of royal icing, and a box to transport your gingerbread creation are all included. Event includes motor coach transportation, lunch, and docent tour. 10:45 am–4 pm; $48; cancel by February 18 N E W International Dumpling Crawl Saturday, February 27 Whether you call them "little bits of heart," "swallowing clouds," or just "dumplings," we know you love them. Seattle's International District offers dozens of varieties of dumplings from Japan, Korea, Vietnam and China. Dumplings are a traditional food of the Chinese New Year. We'll celebrate by taking a dumpling tour arranged by the Wing Luke Museum. Our tour includes tastings, history, and a chance to meet some of the families that specialize in dumpling creation. Tour includes admission to the Wing Luke Museum and its popular Bruce Lee exhibit, "Do You Know Bruce?" Dietary note: Food is non-vegetarian and some contain peanuts. 10 am–1 pm; $45 adults, $38 seniors 65 and over, $28 kids 18 and under; cancel by January 27 FAMILY EVENTS 66th Mother Son Banquet "WAC Round-Up" Friday, November 6 We're heading west—to the Wild, Wild West—for this year's Mother Son Banquet! Saddle up and ride on over for an evening at the WAC Dude Ranch. Slip on those cowboy boots, plaid shirts, belt buckles, and cowboy hats, and feast on a barbecue buffet. Roll up your sleeves for pulled pork and veggie sliders, salads, corn on the cob, baked beans, and s'mores for dessert. Let your inner cowboy or cowgirl fly as you take a ride on a mechanical bull. Or keep both feet on the ground and two-step the night away with country line-dancing les- sons. Don't miss out on this wild evening. Round up your friends, throw on your boots, and get ready for a night in the WAC Wild West! 5:30 pm social, 6 pm dinner, 7 pm activities; $46 mothers and sons 12-plus, $35 sons under 12; cancel by October 28 N E W Just for Teens! Hair and Makeup 101 Sunday, January 24 You could learn how to apply makeup from a friend or a YouTube video, but wouldn't you rather learn from an expert? The Spa at the WAC will present a hands-on tutorial on how to master current hairstyles and the perfect everyday makeup routine. Learn the art of curling your hair, how to achieve the perfect beach wave, and even a trendy braid or two. Next will be a lesson in natural every- day makeup. Learn how to apply foundation, bronzer, eyeliner, and lipstick that will be best for you and your skin. A little lesson in skincare and the importance of sunscreen will also be shared.
