THE STEPHEN'S GREEN HIBERNIAN CLUB Reciprocal Club The Stephen's Green Hibernian Club By Michelle Van Slack, Director Member Services A gem in the heart of Dublin Discover the ultimate Irish charm F Michelle Van Slack is Director Member Services. Send her feedback on your reciprocal club visits at mvanslack@wac.net. or more than 170 years, members of The Stephen's Green Hibernian Club have nurtured its rococo-style mansion. Located across the street from Dublin's landmark public park, St. Stephen's Green, the club's location is a major draw. The club's architectural beauty and supreme service are sure to charm you. The Georgian structure is a testament to the design work of the Lafranchini brothers, whose famed ornamental plasterwork and rosettes are prominent throughout much of the building. One striking feature that's not to be missed is the Card Room. Although it may not have the name of a must-see locale, this room's ceiling alone is worth a look. Built during the second phase of construction in the 1870s, the Victorian overtones are a departure from the design of much of the club. A breathtaking domed skylight and sparkling chandeliers offer a bright and charming backdrop. If an evening of Irish stepdancing is to your liking— think Riverdance—you might even consider leaping on the built-in dance floor. Generations of members have considered The Stephen's Green Hibernian Club their home away from home in the heart of Dublin. By reserving one of the private inn rooms with views of St. Stephen's Green you, too, will be charmed by its homey feel. Fortunately, you don't need the luck of the Irish to experience this treasure. A letter of introduction from WAC Member Services will grant you full access.
