{ MEMBER TO MEMBER } Written by Naomi Thalenberg | Photography by Barbara Kinney FAMILIES COME TOGETHER AT THE WAC { TIM WANG } Member since 2006 T im Wang first came to the WAC as a guest to play pickup basketball. After attending multiple games and becoming acquainted with the basketball program, he decided to pursue membership. "There's really no other place you can go to with this kind of competitive edge and friendliness," he says. "All of the members on the league are great people. I love the fact that there's this space in downtown Seattle." Since joining the WAC, Tim's involvement has grown beyond the court, where he continues to represent the Club on the AA traveling team, for ages 35–44. This past May, he was elected to the WAC's Board of Governors. "The WAC is a place of really outstanding people in the professional community," he says. "When I meet another WAC member, there's a preestablished baseline of knowledge. I know the two of us already have something in common." You might recognize Tim from the February 2012 issue of WAC Magazine, in which he took us behind the scenes of his company, T.D. Wang Advertising Group. His membership at the Club allows him to network with fellow business professionals in the community—a key benefit, he says. Since joining the WAC, Tim also started a new family tradition. Each year, his parents, Chao-Hsin and Minchiang Wang, join him for a family Thanksgiving feast in Torchy's. "We absolutely love Thanksgiving dinner," he says. Tim's fiancée, Lan Trinh, and sister and brother-in-law are also big fans of Thanksgiving at the Club. "I feel very blessed," Tim says. 14 | Washington Athletic Club Magazine | JANUARY 2014
