Tell members what you do! Frank Voogd started working for the WAC in 1953 as a young mail clerk. Through four decades, his career at the Club involved 11 different positions, the last being Executive Vice President and General Manager. Frank retired in 1993, and the Voogd Library was named in his honor. "Looking back, Frank set many of the foundations for building improvements, expansion of services, and the Club's culture today," Vice President Operations Bill Cohen says. "He was a stickler for details, no matter how small." On November 10, 2013, Frank passed away at age 80. Frank was born in 1933 and was a long-time resident of Ballard and Camano Island. He was active in Rotary, the Washington State Restaurant Association, and the Club Managers Association of America, and he was honored as a Fellow by Seattle Pacific University. Frank loved athletics and led much of his life through his passion for sports. He played softball and handball, and coached youth football and basketball. Frank is survived by four children, 10 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. He'll be remembered as a caring father. "He was humble, hard working, and always a gentleman," Vice President Club Programs Melissa Borders says. To the WAC community, he'll be remembered for his kind leadership and eagerness to help the growth and membership of the Club.
