Williams 2005 Quilceda Creek, Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley, Washington Tasting Notes: Beautiful saturated deep ruby on the rim with opaque purplecolored body. Aromas of smoked black fruits, truffle, black cherry, plum, and cassis waft up to tantalize your nose, followed by nuances of violets and dark chocolate. Classically structured, this remarkable wine has elegance and persistence with a decadent weightless texture. The tannins are exceptionally managed with polished texture that finishes long and pure. Discovery: Some say that Alex Golitzin was destined to make great wine—it runs in the family. Alex is related to Prince Lev Sergervich Golitzin, an acclaimed winemaker in Russia, and is the nephew the legendary André Tchelistcheff of Napa Valley. Founded in 1974 and bonded in 1978, Quilceda Creek produced its first commercial Cabernet in 1979. In 1992, Alex's son Paul joined the team as director of winemaking and has been instrumental in bringing Quilceda Creek to the forefront of the wine world. Quilceda Creek has earned an unprecedented four 100point wines. —Sara A. Williams is a WAC Restaurant Manager and a Level 1 Sommelier.
