Nothing screams more Americana than Renovated King Street Station & Klondike Gold Rush Museum NEW Thursday, February 20 When the Seattle Department of Transportation purchased the King Street Station from Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway in February 2008, the station was in a state of disrepair. A five-year renovation has restored the 1906 station to its original grandeur. Join us for an exclusive one-hour tour with Property Manager Mike Tihista to see many of the dramatic changes, enhancements, and restorations. Outside, view the new pedestrian plaza with landscaping, benches, glass canopies with lighting, and historic replica LED lights. Inside, see the structurally reworked plaster, chandelier light fixtures replicated from photos, the relocated ticket counter, a restored second floor balcony, and shiny terrazzo floors. For an unforgettable experience, those with strong legs and strong wills may climb the 200-plus stairs up to the clock tower. After our tour, lunch is included at Lodge Sports Grille, one block from the station. Then, you have the option of visiting the free and excellent Klondike Gold Rush Museum, located one block away. The museum is situated in the old Cadillac Hotel, that served as a departure point for many fortune seekers. Inside are exhibits, photos, films and relics of the late 1890's Gold Rush era.
