Blackstock is an autistic savant and strives to make sense of his unpredictable world through the outlet of art creation. In the years since his first exhibition in 2004, Blackstock's distinctive drawings have captured the imagination of art collectors throughout the world. Both Microsoft and the Seattle Art Museum own examples of his work in their permanent collections. A book of his art, Blackstock's Collections, is in libraries worldwide. Blackstock's work is currently exhibited at the Greg Kucera Gallery in Seattle. Come celebrate the Club's new grand staircase gallery and meet the artist! Reserve for this complimentary event at clubprograms@wac.net or 206.464.3060. 5:30–7 pm; complimentary wine social and artist reception in the WAC lobby, and gallery viewing Whiskey Barrel Blending & Tasting at Copperworks Distilling Co. Thursday, October 13 (SOLD OUT) Thursday, November 10 In 2014, members helped make a batch of whiskey at award-winning Copperworks Distilling Co., located on Seattle's waterfront. Two years later, the whiskey is fully aged and owners Jason Parker and Micah Nutt have welcomed the WAC back for another custom event. Guided blending and proofing of the whiskey barrel samples will lead to the creation of three custom blends. You'll get to taste the blends at cask strength and proofed at three different strengths. You'll also have the opportunity to hand fill, label, and purchase bottles from the barrels of your choosing. Each bottle will be signed by Parker and Nutt, dated, and numbered. This exclusive evening includes a Cajun and Creole dinner buffet catered by Jemil's Big Easy. Class size limited to 24. 6–9 pm; $48; cancel one week prior to event November December R O B E R T L A U R E N T SEPTEMBER / OCTOBER 2016 | Washington Athletic Club Magazine | 41 CLUB PROGRAMS 206.464.3060 • clubprograms@wac.net • wac.net/club-events
