Letter from the President & CEO Chuck Nelson, President & Chief Executive Officer / cnelson@wac.net / @cnhuskies13 I n this edition of WAC Magazine, we take the opportunity to look forward and back. The full membership gets to know more about Paul Ravetta, who as our new Chairman of the Board of Governors heads up a strong group of member leaders for the year ahead. You will soon see that Paul and his wife, Stacey, are great examples of using the WAC to build a life in Seattle and then joyfully giving back to the Club through volunteer leadership. We also take an enjoyable look at the fiscal year just completed with our annual timeline of significant events, accomplishments and improvements around the WAC. It was a year full of strides forward and so much fun! The Washington Athletic Club is a wonderful, collegial, inclusive, and highly functional mix of members, management, staff, member leaders, and community. All of these entities, putting the best interests of the WAC first, work together to strategize, plan, and execute the continued evolution and improvement of this already great club. We're recognized as one of the top city athletic clubs in America, and the goal of all of us is to build upon our successes and create new, more, and better member experiences every day. We must be respectful and great stewards of the history of the WAC while also being responsibly creative and entrepreneurial about the future. We must build a WAC to serve the needs of today's membership and the next generation. That is a balancing act that requires shared vision and common goals. It also requires the support and commitment of the membership. To reach its full potential and be the club we all want it to be, the WAC needs your financial support and usage of club facilities. As we start this new fiscal year, the ask is that you support the WAC, your club, with a membership mentality, not a consumer or customer mentality. The member- ship is the only resource the WAC can call upon to fully support operations, fund capital improvements and equipment and facility upgrades, and take the proper deserved care of our wonderful team members. Use the WAC, sponsor new members, and enjoy all the Club has to offer. The more you use it, the greater the value of your membership. Everyone wants the WAC to grow and evolve and thrive in its role as Seattle's premier fitness, social and professional community. Let's grow older, wiser and better together! Thank you, The meaning of membership
