Tuesday, November 24 Part reality show and part comedy club, the Seattle International Comedy Competition is back at the WAC for Night One of Finals Week. The top-five comedians will battle it out for the night's top honors and an opportunity to win cash and prizes. The pressure is on as the comedians take the stage for 20-minute sets of their best material in hopes of leaving the audience in fits of laughter. Before the show, catch a Mexican street-taco buffet that includes carnitas, chicken, roasted veggies, enchiladas, rice and beans, and a southwest Caesar salad. This isn't your average comedy competition—it's bigger, better, and bound to be hilarious! Appropriate for those 21 and older. Giving the Nutcracker a bawdy makeover, this show has delighted thousands of holiday revelers since 2006 in what the Seattle Post- Intelligencer calls a "rollicking, frolicking, unabashed and uninhibited celebration of the season." Spend the evening with the show's signature act, The Countess of Coffee, the light-juggling magic of Babette La Fave, Laurel Bordeaux's Clockwork Doll, and the ever-loveable Snowflakes. You'll also meet fresh faces in this world of winter magic, see amazing new costumes by Stephanie Seymour (formerly of Teatro ZinZanni), and impressive technical dancing with a sensuous twist. Your evening gradually builds from mild to wild with Executive Chef Eric Floyd's celebration buffet, no-host bars, dance hits from across the decades, the craziest favors you've ever seen, and endless confetti to refill your shoes. Don't miss the last and most exciting party of the year! Groups of eight Sauced, where a gin joint is the setting for a noir tale of dames, detectives, deals, and a flight of cocktails. Re-creating a jazzy speakeasy in the 1930s, the evening is one part historical tour of mixology and one part quirky mystery, shaken and served up with a dash of the surreal. Join us at McCaw Hall for a preview discussion of the new Nutcracker and learn about PNB's collaboration with children's author Ian Falconer, best known for his Olivia books. PNB's Doug Fullington will talk about Falconer's fanciful costume and set designs. You'll get to see a few of the exquisite costumes up-close and take a backstage tour just before the ballet's evening performance of Emergence. Though Nutcracker will have a whole new look, George Balanchine's stunning choreography and Pyotr Tchaikovsky's amazing score will be part of PNB's newest dazzling holiday tradition.
