18 | Washington Athletic Club Magazine | SEPTEMBER / OCTOBER 2015 Teamworks APRIL EDER COBAXIN RECEIVING MAY BERT ESMILE FITNESS Fitness has a superstar, and his name is Bert. Bert is a Coed Fitness desk attendant who is coming up on his second anniversary of working at the WAC. Bert does everything from clean machines to assist members with their needs. "He is an incredibly hard worker who has taken cleanliness to a new level," says Wayne Milner, Senior Vice President Athletics, Special Projects & Community Partners. In addition to working Thursday and Friday afternoons and evenings, Bert works long weekends while also running a private cleaning business. "Bert has an incredibly positive attitude and always goes above and beyond for members and team members alike," Women's and Coed Fitness Manager Maureen Eggers says. Asked about his favorite part of the job, Bert replies: "Everything!" Eder has worked in the Receiving Department since starting at the WAC 10 years ago. As Receiving Clerk, his responsibilities include inventory; assisting in coordination of deliveries; food and beverage ordering; and shipping and billing. "Eder plays a vital role in the daily operation of the receiving and purchase department," Purchasing Manager Tony Sundberg says. "He has a can-do attitude, even when things get a little chaotic. It's reassuring to know I can count on Eder to do a first-rate job no matter the task." Co-workers often describe Eder as hard-working and a pleasure to be around. "His attitude each day is a model for us all," Controller Sandy Cramer says. "He's always eager to learn and improve … and he would drop anything to help out as needed." A decade in, Eder still exhibits great passion for his job. "It has been gratifying to see Eder mature, both personally and professionally, yet maintain his infectious positive approach and service ethic," CFO Paul Lowber says. "He is one of our unsung heroes, and it's great to see him get this recognition." JUNE MYKOLA (MYK) ZHURAKOVSKYY FOOD & BEVERAGE TEAM MEMBER OF THE MONTH Myk has been part of the dishroom and kitchen team since starting at the WAC in 2009. "He is always on time, trustworthy, and very dedicated to the WAC," Eric says. "He's also a true team player. He always goes the extra mile and is there when you need him. We really appreciate what he brings to our team." Myk says he enjoys his work and loves helping wherever and whenever needed. He also appreciates the support he receives from his co-workers.
