Get ready for fun, adventure and celebration in the Crystal Ballroom. Activities and entertainment galore, costume catwalk, lip-smacking snacks, and a devilishly delightful Count WACula will be on hand to help celebrate this long-standing event. The more the merrier, so be sure to bring all your costumed kiddos, parents, grandparents, and the rest of the gang to kick off the Halloween season. Munchies, drinks, and tons of fun included. 11 am–12:30 pm; $22 per child, accompanying adults complimentary; cancel by October 18 NEW 14th annual gingermania sunday, november 10 Gather your friends and family and point your sled toward the WAC for this cozy afternoon tradition. This all-inclusive 14-year tradition features a room bursting with music, color, preconstructed gingerbread houses, mountains of candy embellishments, squeezable pastry bags of royal icing, and that nostalgic holiday aroma of gingerbread. Also, you'll receive a special box to bring your house home. Yummy treats for snacking and the sweet scents of the season will have you ready to begin the holiday festivities. Members may reserve a maximum of four houses with a maximum of six people. Reserve early. 1–3 pm; $60 per house; cancel by October 30 Holiday magic: wildlights at the Zoo by day. Light up your night with our special holiday magic package that includes admission to WildLights and a family-friendly deluxe deli buffet, build-your-own s'mores station, and hot chocolate bar all in the private Carousel Room, reserved just for us. You'll also receive a ride on the historic carousel and glowing holiday favors to help illuminate your way through the park. In addition to experiencing amazing indoor and outdoor displays of running gazelles, yawning hippos, stomping elephants, and more, you'll also enjoy caroling, live entertainment, seasonal crafts, a few of the zoo's animal friends (including visiting reindeer), and Snowmazium (a winter wonderland full of soft, fuzzy, fake snowballs for mock snowball fights). Mary Lee LaBay—a doctor of clinical hypnotherapy, author, and instructor—will discuss and teach various practical applications, including ways to relieve stress. She'll also share insights into the relationship between thoughts and health and discuss how hypnotherapy can help you achieve the wellness and excellence you desire. Not only will the park be decorated with hundreds of thousands of sparkling LED lights that create scenes, canopies, and mountains, but organizers will also create two and three-dimensional wild animals with lights. The lights will be placed throughout the displays and pathways, adding extra visual excitement to a place that is already known for being wild Wintertime's cozy evenings are the perfect time to learn the art of knitting. Back by popular demand, we're offering basic knitting classes with expert instructor Tatyana Tchibova. In just four classes you'll learn all of the essential skills to complete a small project. Tchibova's watchful eyes, helping hands, and 27 years of knitting experience will help you quickly pick up the basics. She'll guide you every step of the way as you It's weird, it's wonderful, it's Halloween! Kick off your Halloween celebrations with an excuse to dress up (costumes encouraged, but not required). Hit the town, enjoy a libation or two, munch on some food, and watch the hilarious cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Central Cinema, dubbed Seattle's most fun movie theatre, will host this exclusive WAC night. At Seattle's only dine-in cinema, members will be treated to pre-movie appetizers and cocktails. The Rocky Horror Picture Show is part campy musical, part horror film, and details the travels of a squeaky clean couple stranded at a creepy castle where the inhabitants sing and dance through a bacchanalian romp of murder, bisexuality and cannibalism. Let this night out at the movies get you into the Halloween spirit.
