Join ariana Kukors, olympic swimmer and world-record holder, for a hands-on interactive Dream clinic on saturday, october 26, in the Wac Gym and card room on the 8th floor. in 2008, the Washington native was devastated after missing the olympic team by less than a second. The following year, Kukors returned to the lanes at the 2009 world championships in italy and set the world record in the women's 200-meter individual medley. now, Kukors is passionate about inspiring and empowering children and young adults to keep true to their dreams even through failure and disappointment. "i was a little girl with a big dream," she says. "i worked hard to get there every day. People who set their goals and make them are the wisest of all." in this creative workshop—not a swim clinic—you'll work closely with Kukors to discuss personal obstacles and positive affirmation, create a vision board, and more. Tasting Notes: This wine is filled with vibrant flavors of lemon, gooseberries, apricot, and hints of key lime on the nose. It's yellow tinged with golden green on the rim. A crisp natural acidity with a richness of cool harvest nights make it the perfect summer wine. Pair it with one of our new menu items, like the strawberry chopped salad or the furikake-crusted ahi tuna appetizer in Torchy's. DiSCoVErY: Founded in 1983, L'Ecole No 41 is located in the historic Frenchtown School. During its first 25 years, the label depicted a watercolor painting of the schoolhouse drawn by an 8-year-old. The label is now a painting of the schoolhouse based on a photograph taken in 1915. Frenchtown derived its name from the many French Canadian settlers in Walla Walla in the early 1800s. It's been said that these settlers raised grapes and produced wine. The name L'Ecole means "the school" in French, and the winery is located in school district 41. — Sara A. Williams is a WAC Restaurant Manager and a Level 1 Sommelier.
