{ memBer To memBer } Written by Suzie Schofield | Photography by Barbara Kinney Community leaders come ToGeTher at the waC { Grace chien } Member since 1993 G race Chien is a long-time member of the Seattle business community and the WAC. She and her husband, Rodney Eng, joined the Club when their children were little. "They had a great Saturday kids program," says Grace. "Our two daughters took swimming and karate lessons, and I started working out while they were in class. It was fun for all of us. For business, social or family, the WAC is just a natural way to connect with some really terrific people." The family has fond memories of Mother Daughter Teas, attending Jubilee, and many other activities. "The WAC is part of our family culture," Grace says. "It was a second home when the girls were growing up. It's just a part of our lives." Now retired from a career as head of the Girl Scouts of Western Washington, Grace is sharing her love of fine wine as a member of the Food & Beverage Committee and the WAC Wine Club. Rodney still sits on the board of Seattle Metropolitan Credit Union. It's through Rodney's presence on that board that Grace connected with Richard Romero and encouraged him to check out the WAC. 18 | Washington Athletic Club Magazine | SePTemBer 2013
