Upcoming session: April 8���11 (5���9 pm) & April 13 (10 am���7:30 pm); 6th Floor Pool; $220 members, $260 guests (all materials included) Kids Indoor Triathlon Training March 30; April 6, 13, 20 12���2 pm During this four-week training ���camp,��� junior WAC members who plan to participate in the WAC���s Kids Indoor Triathlon on April 27 will prepare for personal and athletic success. We���ll emphasize the importance of trying our best and focus on personal achievement rather than winning. Taught by a WAC personal trainer and swim instructor, kids will learn the mechanics of a triathlon as well as safety tips, stretching techniques, and the importance of pacing. They���ll also learn how to maintain a training schedule and keep a workout log. During each session, participants will practice on bikes and the track for one hour and then swim for 30 minutes. Most important, we���ll reinforce the importance of being active and staying fit and confident���all while having fun and meeting new friends. Intended for ages 6���14. Eight participants minimum. $60; gather in Coed Fitness (4th Floor) Kids Indoor Triathlon Saturday, April 27 The WAC Kids Indoor Triathlon is a great way to teach your junior WAC member healthy fitness habits. In a fun atmosphere, participants will ride stationary bikes, run on the track, and finish with a swim in Helene Madison Pool. Children will be separated into age groups, with the first group beginning at 9 am. Competition rules and spectator information will be given out upon arrival. All participants will receive a bib number, T-shirt, water bottle, swim cap, and snack. The event will close with a pool party with the infamous WACness Monster and an awards ceremony. Each participant will be given a finishers��� medal. The top placers in each age division will be awarded prizes. Race distance will vary. Ages 6���8: 1-mile bike, quartermile run, 50-yard swim; ages 9���11: 2-mile bike, half-mile run, 75-yard swim; ages 12���14: 3-mile bike, three-quartermile run, 100-yard swim. Registration forms are located at the Helene Madison Pool. Forms can be dropped off at the pool or in the Athletics Office. For ages 15 and up. The American Red Cross Lifeguarding Program prepares people to be effective lifeguards. Upon proper completion, participants will receive lifeguard, first aid, CPR, and automated external defibrillator (aka AED) certification.
