Queen of Seattle Paddle-Wheeler Cruise August 10
Members cruised back in time aboard the Queen of Seattle paddle-wheeler, a ship themed to reflect the Alaska Gold Rush era of the 1890s and run by staff in period costume. As we cruised from Lake Union to the locks in Ballard, we were given a narrated history of Seattle during this period and learned of the pertinent role our city played in the search for gold in the Great White North. On the return trip, we were entertained with a steam calliope performance and a "Klondike Cabaret Show," which included sing-a-longs and can-can audience participation.
