Through a vertical wind tunnel that generates wind speeds up to 160 miles per hour, you'll be lifted into a wall-to-wall cushion of air on which you safely float. Just lean into the tunnel, and it's you and the air in an incredibly safe, realistic, and fully supervised flying experience. You'll have two assisted flights of 60 seconds each. Your first flight will be about six feet off the ground. For your second flight, thrill-seekers may opt to have the instructor take them up to the top of the 40-foot tunnel. Meet in the party room for training and suiting up in your flight gear before our group heads to the tunnel. At the end of your flights, you'll receive a DVD of the group's flights, along with individual certificates of flight. After everyone has flown, it's back to the party room for soft drinks, pizza, and salad from California Pizza Kitchen. Friends and family are welcome to watch and photograph or videotape your flight from the viewing room. Participation requires a signed waiver in advance. Space is limited to 12 fliers. Restrictions include: cannot be pregnant; must not have prior back injury or dislocated shoulder; under six feet and under 230 pounds, or over six feet and under 250 pounds; can't be intoxicated. 3:30–6 pm; $85; cancel by April 22 ESCAPADES 7th Annual Tubing & Brews Saturday, February 8 18192021222324 25262728293031 N EW 1–11 | A Room With A View N EW 3 | iFLY Seattle Indoor Skydiving N EW 4 | 81st Mother Daughter Tea "Up, Up & Away" N EW 9 | Laughter & Reflection with Carol Burnett N EW 10 | Seattle Rock Orchestra: The Beatles' The White Album N EW 15, 23, 25 | Little Shop of Horrors N EW 17 | Off to the Races! With help from community members, the center saves lives in more than 70 hospitals and clinics in 14 Western Washington counties. Patients with leukemia, cancer, burns, hemophilia, and traumatic injuries depend on the blood center. Every day, scientists and technicians at the center work to improve cures for cancer and many blood-related diseases, including stroke and heart attack. Come tour this incredible Seattle institution and learn about its history. The blood center opened in 1944. A founding partner, the WAC was one of the first organizations to provide financial support toward its establishment. Learn how babies save lives at the umbilical cord blood bank. See the cutting edge blood "vending machine," used for blood-on-demand by surgeons. And visit the platelet research center to see scientists looking for cancer answers. We'll meet in the lobby of the Sorrento Hotel, across the street from the blood center, then head to a casual lunch in the Hunt Club.
