By the Book Your guide to harmonious membership By Michelle Van Slack, Director Member Services Read "By the Book" in each issue of WAC Magazine and get to know your Club. T he WAC is a unique place with a rich history and bright future. As a WAC member, you are also an owner of the Club. As such, we look to you to help maintain the harmonious operations of your Club. With this goal in mind, some of our member leaders recently took on the important task of updating our Bylaws and House Rules, which act as our governing documents. Their updates were voted on and approved by our Board of Governors and are currently in effect. #1 MOVING FORWARD The complete WAC Bylaws and House Rules are available in the members-only section of wac.net. If you need help gaining access or have any questions, please contact Member Services at 206.464.3068 or membership@wac.net. We are eager to honor our legacy while also keeping an eye toward the future. Updating our governing documents was a balancing act and great achievement. With these recent changes—and with the Club buzzing with new members following WAC Friends & Family—we thought this would be a great time to begin highlighting a Club rule each month. Our first entry in this new department begins right where each of our WAC journeys began—at the front door. YOUR CARD AND CLUB SECURITY You might not even realize there is a proper way to enter the WAC. Before you enjoy the many benefits of WAC membership, you must first enter the Club by presenting your membership card, with your photograph facing the security officer. This helps to maintain our distinction as a private Club while also ensuring the security of our members. Of course, we know members forget their card on occasion, and we do have backup plans in place.
