There is a long list, which keeps growing. One of the most important features I highlight is how the WAC plays a key role in the Seattle business community. Being a transplant to Seattle, I tell anyone I meet who's new to the Seattle business community that they need to be a member of the WAC. By being an engaged WAC member, I have met many business associates. We have gotten to know each other in an easy manner around the Club, and these relationships have grown. We value and support each other as business leaders and fellow WAC members. As you may recall, my theme for my year as WAC Chairwoman is "member engagement." The more effort a member gives to participate in activities and programs, the more the Club becomes an important part of their identity. As a business leader, I find the WAC a tremendous support. The roster of member leaders in the business community never fails to amaze me. By being an active member, I have learned about the behind-the-scenes history of Seattle business, which in turn has helped me become a better contributor to the local business community. Whether you are a longtime member or brand new to Seattle, my advice is and will continue to be to get involved. Engage with the Club and with other members. I have been humbled by the number of members who say hello to me and introduce themselves in the elevators or at events. I hope that when my tenure ends, we'll continue to interact in this manner. I know I certainly will remain actively engaged, and I look forward to continuing to do business at the WAC. 4 | Washington Athletic Club Magazine | FEBRUARY / MARCH 2014
