Kirkland art & more
August 14
Club Programs Senior Event Manager Robert Laurent dusted off
his BFA in Art and led a walking tour of downtown Kirkland's public
art. Works viewed and discussed included one by the sculptor of
Fremont's "Waiting for the Interurban." Another was by the mother
of supermodel Jill Goodacre (and mother-in-law to Harry Connick,
Jr.), who also designed the image on the Sacagawea coin. And two
works were by the artist who has been commissioned to build a
300-foot west coast bookend to the Statue of Liberty called the
Statue of Responsibility. Stops at the Howard/Mandeville Gallery
and Farmer's Market rounded out our enjoyable visit.
