He appreciates the professional connections he's made at the WAC, but what initially drew him to the Club was his love of athletics. "When I first joined I got involved with the basketball program," he recalls. Since then, he's grown into a program fixture, coaching two teams and playing on a third. Chris also helped establish a membership category that brings more sports-oriented young adults to the WAC and nurtures athletes looking to remain competitive after their traditional playing days have otherwise ended. "The primary way we find new candidates is through other Club members," he explains. "So we developed a simple screening process." Once athletes pass that, Chris says, the rest is easy. "I have no problems selling people on the wide range of benefits and opportunities at the WAC," he says. "There are great people here, and you never know where the connection will be made." While helping grow the women's basketball program, Chris met Enjoli Izidor. 18 | Washington Athletic Club Magazine | oCtoBer 2013
