Not sleeping well? Stressed? Noticing symptoms of irritability, lack of drive, reduced exercise capacity, fuzzy thinking, or tingling in your hands or feet? Vitamin B12 deficiency or suboptimal levels of B12 can cause all these symptoms. Regular use of heartburn medications, certain anti-diabetics, antibiotics, excessive coffee intake and vegetarian diets can exacerbate vitamin B12 deficiency, as can the aging process. Moreover, for anyone taking antidepressants, researchers have found better results when such medications are taken concurrent with vitamin B12 shots. Vitamin B12 plays an important role in protecting us from heart dis- ease, supports healthy circulation, immune function, red blood cell production, mood regulation, memory, concentration and mental clarity. B12 shots are offered through the Wellness Center. Appointments are recommended, though walk-ins can be accommodated.
