members in motion women of influence Rosanna Bowles and Kate joncas were honored in the 2012 Puget Sound Business Journal Women of Influence awards. Each year, the awards go to a list of women who have made a difference as innovative and altruistic entrepreneurs. Rosanna is founder and owner of Rosanna Inc., an international brand for unique tableware and accessories. Her small business started in her Seattle home in 1982. Today, it's an international success. Rosanna supports many charities, including the Children's Trust Foundation, Doctors Without Borders, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, and The Nature Conservancy. Rosanna is also the 2013 Seattle Go Red For Women chairwoman. Go Red is part of the American Heart Association and focuses on educating women about the dangers of heart disease. Rosanna joined the WAC in 2004. Meanwhile, as president and CEO of the Downtown Seattle Association, Kate Joncas is a passionate advocate for bettering the community and making downtown the very best place to live, work, shop and play in the region. Kate joined the association in 1984 and the WAC in 1994. She has raised awareness and initiated change for issues of crime, homelessness, regional transit, and urban planning. In a recent interview in Puget Sound Business Journal, Kate said her biggest accomplishment in 2012 was helping get construction started on the new Alaskan Way Viaduct replacement tunnel. 18 | Washington Athletic Club Magazine | FEBRUARY 2013 under 40 award tim poRteR was honored in the 2012 Puget Sound Business Journal 's 40 Under 40 awards. The annual awards honor men and women under the age of 40 for leadership in their industries and the community. Tim joined Madrona Venture Group in 2006 and is one of its seven managing directors. His role consists of coaching, funding, and teaming with entrepreneurs and CEOs from technology start-ups. With a background in mechanical engineering, Tim has helped many of Seattle's leading technology start-ups develop and grow. Although he spends most of his time searching for investment opportunities, he also enjoys exploring the Northwest outdoors with his family and playing basketball at the WAC. Tim joined the Club in 1999.
