He originally got involved as a way to meet other WAC members and work on his game. He's been coming back every spring since. Organized by Athletic Programs Manager Darin Barr, the WAC Golf Club spends the spring and summer playing throughout Puget Sound. Players of various ages and abilities are welcome to join in any of the nine-hole twilight events and monthly Saturday rounds. Landry is one of about 150 Golf Club members who enjoy guaranteed tee times throughout the season. As any player knows, that's a hot commodity—especially during the middle of summer. Scheduled rounds make it easy for Golf Club members to experience great play, and the Golf Club's privilege course network adds to the advantages of membership in this club within the Club. In addition to providing Golf Club members with preferred access to local courses, the club pairs players. As a result, it's a great social and networking opportunity. Member James Williams is especially appreciative of the friendships and encouragement he's received during his participation. "I played Sand Point Country Club, where I chipped into the hole from off the green," James says. "The congratulations from other members in the group felt awesome." Landry echoes this sentiment. "My favorite part of being in the Golf Club are the relationships I've built over the years," he says. "I also love the fact that I can schedule my golf outings well in advance." For Dan Weedin, an avid golfer for 35 years, built-in playing partners and a set schedule mean more rounds. "I was finding it hard to get out," Dan says. "Now I have a venue to consistently play, and I don't have to work at it. Darin keeps the atmosphere fun, and he always finds great courses to play."
