But I think it's even better to return home. I've put a lot of effort into my own home recently. We're making some cosmetic changes as well as some infrastructure upgrades—improved plumbing, updated electrical, modern windows, a heat pump, and the like. Home ownership demands an almost constant investment of time, money and patience. I can still hear my dad's words after I signed my first mortgage: "Good luck! Owning a home is a LOT of work. There's always something to be fixed!" Of course, it's the same here at our second home, the Washington Athletic Club. With 21 floors, 109 guest rooms, close to 200 exercise machines, two commercial kitchens, seven elevators, and 1,200–1,400 members and guests in and out of the front door every day, there's always something to be fixed! We're lucky to have Vice President Operations Bill Cohen and his team of experts dedicated to making our Clubhouse shine. Helping guide the effort with Bill is Building Operations Manager Mike Young, who leads our engineers, carpenters, painters, janitors, and many others in ongoing maintenance and improvement of the WAC facility. Mike is also involved with the special projects that bring high-profile upgrades to the Clubhouse. In recent years, those upgrades have included major improvements to our lobby, Torchy's, and the Inn at the WAC, among many other Club spaces. We have another big project on the way this year. In late spring, we'll begin the replacement of our three high-rise elevators. Those elevators are original to the building and, as you know, they're a bit slow and sometimes a little temperamental. Plans are now underway to ease congestion during the project, with only one lift out of use at a time. We're also planning most of the work during summer, when Club use slows a little. Your patience through this big project is appreciated. We'll all enjoy the investment when the work is done—greater speed, a quieter ride, and improved safety. It's not always easy, but the work we put into our homes—and our second home—always pays off in the long run. There's no place like home Elevator project updates will be posted on our website at wac.net/club-projects.
