BRI is one of the few research institutes in the world dedicated to discovering causes of and cures for 80 autoimmune and immune system diseases, including Type 1 diabetes, multiple sclerosis, Crohn's disease, and rheumatoid arthritis. We'll meet at Pier 91 and board the ship for a special welcome by cruise professionals in the Queen's Lounge. Experience all the ms Westerdam has to offer with a tour led by experts from the award-winning Seattle luxury travel firm Cruise Specialists. We will explore the ship from bow to stern, seeing the crow's nest, lido deck, casino, main stage, dance venues, and Club HAL. The last stop on the tour will be the Vista Dining Room, where we will enjoy a relaxing glass of wine and lunch. The ms Westerdam is the third in Holland America Line's series of Vista-class ships and boasts the latest industry and environmental technologies, culinary arts, exquisite service, and entertainment. The ms Westerdam transits the Panama Canal; cruises the Caribbean; visits Hawaii, Mexico, and Europe; and explores Alaska. Holland America Line, founded in 1873 as the Netherlands-America Steamship Company, has carried more than 11 million passengers from Europe to the Americas, and to vacation destinations across the globe. Based in Seattle since 1983, its current fleet of 15 ships offers more than 500 cruises to 350 ports and carries more than 800,000 passengers a year. Those reserving for this tour must be at least 21 years of age and must provide passport or driver's license number, date of birth, and citizenship at time of reservation. No name changes can be made after June 1. Photo ID will be required before boarding the ship. Space for this special cruise experience is limited to 50 people. A portion of the tour proceeds will be donated. 10 am–1:30 pm; $32; cancel by June 1 FAMILY EVENTS Modern Manners for Modern Kids Sunday, March 13 Proper manners travel far beyond "please" and "thank you." Today's generation must know their table manners and exhibit social etiquette. Tina Hanson of Clise Etiquette will use her experience to teach young WAC members the importance of everyday propriety. Hanson will teach public etiquette and meaningful courtesies. Finally, everyone will explore the traditional ways to set a table, handle silverware, eat difficult foods, and interact at a meal. Modern Manners for Modern Kids includes a two-hour class, a three-course lunch, and printed material for review at home. Ages 6–8; 10 am–12 pm; $75 Ages 9–12; 12:30–2:30 pm; $75 Cancel by March 1 N E W Children's Spring Party: Animal Encounters Petting Zoo Saturday, April 16 We are bringing a petting zoo to the WAC! Get ready for an exciting hands-on experience with a wide variety of animals from familiar barnyard favorites to fascinating exotics. Spend time with a wallaby, sheep, Patagonian mara, mini-pig, African pygmy goats, rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, and more. Pull up a chair and be one among the animals as you learn all about their habitat and feeding rituals. The Animal Encounters staff will be present to educate, share stories, and handle the animals.
