She was a fantastic cook and valued the impor- tant things in life: family, food and wine. Incidentally, the Palazzo Arzaga Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort also celebrates these things. The word palazzo translates to "palace" or "mansion," which is exactly what you see as you meander up the long chestnut tree-lined driveway, formerly traveled for centuries by carriage. The club's main 15th century country mansion has been beautifully restored and sits just a few steps from its Residence San Martino and Residence Dei Castagni. These three stately buildings house 84 five-star guestrooms and suites. There are multiple restaurants, and depending on when you visit, dinner may be served in an expansive dining room with tall Romanesque ceilings, or alfresco on the terrace overlooking the golf courses.
