When they attended their first, John F. Kennedy was president and The Beatles hadn't yet come to America. "People set their calendars by it," says Vice President Club "It adds to the event for others to see how special it is for them. It means so much for the WAC to have them be there every year." "The Father Daughter Banquet is what we talk about when we think about the meaning of a WAC tradition." This year's banquet epitomized tradition as Jerry Jager and his daughter, Laura, also marked their 50th banquet. "I love it," Jerry says. "I used to go to the Father Son Banquet with my dad, and I couldn't wait to have kids." The Coveys, like many, have made Father Daughter a family affair. This year, four generations attended, including Don's two- month-old great-granddaughter, Olive, who won the youngest daughter award. "Getting together as a family is pretty important," Don says. "The athletic club provides us a venue for doing that." Their attendance is important to others, too, Melissa says.
