A Metabolic Exercise Test (MET) measures your body's specific physi- ological response to exercise. While you work out on your preferred cardio equip- ment, we'll monitor your oxygen consump- tion, carbon dioxide production and heart rate. The data will show how your body uses different fuels at various workloads. You'll also learn the heart rate at which your body burns the most fat and the rate at which your body burns the most calories. Use the information to monitor your heart rate and to burn maximum fat and calories. Combine your MET with an eight-week zone training program to change your phys- iology, help your body become a better fat- burning machine and increase your overall physical fitness. Undergo a Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) Assessment as well to determine the number of calories per day your body needs to maintain its current self. By measuring oxygen consumption and car- bon dioxide production, this test determines the percentage of calories you burn as fat versus carbohydrates. When you know your RMR, you can set your daily caloric input (diet) and output (exercise) to the exact caloric number that will allow you to either lose or maintain weight.
