That last move brought her to Seattle in 1993. She joined the WAC two years later. "The WAC has become one of the most important aspects of my life in Seattle," she says. "It's absolutely an important commu- nity to me." That was never more evident than when she broke down in the women's locker room and found herself immediately surrounded by friends. Immediate Past Chairman Kip Spencer says Tammy was the first person to congrat- ulate him when he was named Chairman Elect. "That meant a lot," he says. "You will not meet someone more passionate and committed to the WAC than Tammy. She's a respected and proven business leader, and the WAC will be served very well by her leadership." "Tammy represents so much of what the WAC is all about," adds President & CEO Chuck Nelson. "Her personal strength, coupled with her passion and appre- ciation for the WAC, will bring great enthusiasm to the role of Chairman, and inspiration and leadership to the Board of Governors." Tammy lists her time on the Program Board and the old Hat Teas as some of her best WAC memories, especially the teas when her mom came as a guest. "That's definitely a really fond memory, being able to share the Club with her," she says. Mom turned 90 this past June and dad turns 94 this month.
