A ugust is a spectacular month in Seattle. The sun is shining, people are boating, and Seahawks football is back! This year, the Seahawks take on the Detroit Lions at home in a Monday Night Football matchup on October 5. This triennial meeting won't happen again until 2018, giving you plenty of time to familiarize yourself with the striking Detroit Athletic Club. Recognized as a fellow Platinum Club of America, the DAC will soon celebrate its 128th anniversary. Founded in 1887 by a group of amateur athletes, the Detroit Athletic Club built its current clubhouse in 1915 to house a variety of athletic pursuits. From the swimming pool to the fitness center, the racquetball and squash courts to the bowling center, there is no shortage of athletic activity at the DAC! During the past 25 years, the club has spent more than $50 million to improve its facilities. While modernizing the space, great care has been taken to ensure the historical feel of the club remains. The Detroit Athletic Club offers overnight accommodations in newly refurbished rooms and suites. Overnight guests enjoy com- plimentary parking and complete access to all athletic and dining facilities, the Tranquility Spa, and the DAC barbershop. Visit the Detroit Athletic Club and enjoy one of America's iconic cities—but don't wait until the next Seahawks game there. Your letter of introduction from the WAC will ensure access anytime you find yourself in Motown. 10 | Washington Athletic Club Magazine | AUGUST 2015
