I recently celebrated my 20th WAC anniversary, which led me to reflect on my time here at the Club. As I look back over the past two decades, it's easy to see that many of the important relationships in my professional and personal lives grew out of or were strengthened by the Club. Despite job and family changes, 1325 Sixth Avenue has remained a constant in my life. I know that many of you have shared an experience similar to mine, and you realize what a special place the WAC is. The sense of community we have with each other is remarkable, and not often found at other athletic-focused clubs. Like other vibrant communities we're each a part of, the WAC needs us to invest in it and plan for its future—and that's where you come in. I'm asking that in the coming year you identify what role you'll play in securing the future of the WAC. Read on for a suggestion and for a specific "ask" I'm making. Consider a role as a member leader. For years, the Club's committees were a mys- tery to me. After asking around, I learned that members who serve in this way have direct input into the Club's operations as well as its multiyear Strategic Plan. Each spring, committees are formed for the next WAC year, which begins each August 1. We need a diverse group of members engaged in leadership roles. Reach out to any member leader you know, email Member Services at membership@wac.net, or contact me directly (my contact information is right on top of this letter) and I'll give you a reminder in the spring. Although committees are a great way to engage, not everyone is up for the commitment. So I have another suggestion—and this brings us to the "ask" I mentioned previously. Sponsor new members into the Club. The future of the WAC is directly dependent upon a growing membership that is actively engaged in the Club's many offerings. This is an easy ask. There's no one better to represent us beyond the walls of the Clubhouse than those of us who use it regularly. Generating new members can be easy and fun, and Member Services has plenty of resources that can help. Moreover, anyone sponsoring three new members in any given WAC year will also become a Membership All-Star (see pages 20 and 24 for more details). We are each a member of the WAC community, and that community is dependent upon us for its future. I'd love to hear from you about what role you'll play in securing our collective future! Fondly, A part of our community
