Box 1709 Seattle, WA 98111-1709 WAC and Washington Athletic Club are registered trademarks of the Washington Athletic Club. Letter from the President & CEO Chuck Nelson, President & Chief Executive Officer / cnelson@wac.net T his issue of WAC Magazine is loaded with stories about the diverse and talented members and offerings of the Washington Athletic Club. From a creator of beauti- ful and sensitive works of art to a guy who revels in jumping in the mud. From the announcement of an exciting mezcal tasting event to a Getting Fit feature that high- lights our many group training classes. It all happens here! e Washington Athletic Club as it stands today is strong—continually and deserv- edly included on a very short list of America's top City Clubs. We sit on a solid foun- dation from which to go forward and become even greater. We are in a vibrant and growing city, providing a building and a culture that exist to make lives better—for men, women, and children of all ages. We offer social, fitness, and networking opportunities as well as fantastic dining options ranging from deli to fine dining. In short, the WAC stands for a quality of life and lifestyle that WAC members deserve. e responsibility for the quality of the WAC is a shared responsibility. Club manage- ment and team members are charged each day with providing and running a first-class facility with exemplary programming and legendary service. And you, as members, also have a responsibility—one that goes beyond paying dues. is Club can grow and thrive only if the membership is engaged and invested in the success of the Club. ere is a dif- ference between customers and members. As a member organization, it is critical that we attract a sufficient supply of qualified members annually. A larger and stronger member- ship is our most direct pathway to a thriving, energetic, and financially successful WAC. e straightest line to the financial and social strength that we seek for the WAC is through members bringing in new members. Share your "why I love the WAC" story with your friends and colleagues. e glory of the WAC goes beyond the measurable 21 stories, five floors of fitness, 100-plus fitness classes a week, three restaurants, spa, hotel, daycare, and parking facilities with member rates. Our glory is also rooted in the relationships, the personal successes, the varied and wonderful people, and milestones and experiences that happen here. Tell that story. You as members have a vested, personal interest in the success and growth of the Washington Athletic Club. We have much to do and great things to accomplish. Let's all push together. It all happens at the WAC
