{ SHAWN AND ALLISON HINTZ } Members since October 2010 W hen long-time Seattle residents Shawn and Allison Hintz moved to the Capitol Hill neighborhood six years ago, they moved in next door to the Flynns. And, says Allison, "We became friends right away." She says the two couples do a lot of laughing, and they even play jokes on one another. Indeed, their kids now play together all the time. The families take trips together—including a 2012 trip to the Vancouver Olympics—and celebrate holidays together. So when the Hintzes learned how much the Flynns loved the WAC, they wanted to find out more for themselves. The Flynns invited Shawn and Allison to a chef's dinner with several other WAC members in the Johnson Lobby Lounge. The couple had a great time. Ultimately, they joined because of the quality of the facilities and programs. "Also, the proximity to our house made it a great fit for our family," says Shawn, a senior vice president of investments at UBS Institutional Consulting. He and Allison, an assistant professor of mathematics education at the University of Washington, have two children—6-year-old Grace and 2-year-old William. Like the Flynns, they now take advantage of as many family activities as they can at the Club. "Our daughter Grace and the Flynns' daughter Vivianne wear matching dresses to the WAC's Father Daughter Dance every year," says Allison. And Allison hosted her grandmother's 90th birthday party here this past summer. Both Shawn and Allison are now spreading the word to their friends that if they haven't discovered the WAC yet, they need to check it out.
