A glorious time of year, it's what we wait for all year long, the region's beacon of hope in the gray months. We deserve a good one! August is also the beginning of a new WAC year, as July 31 wraps up the Club's fiscal and governance calendar. Last year had many successes across all areas of the WAC. (See a timeline of the fiscal year on pages 17–19.) Significantly, it was our best membership year in more than a decade. ank you to outgoing Chairwoman Marilyn Boss, and welcome to new Chairman of the Board Kip Spencer. Kip brings an entrepreneurial yet thoughtful approach and background to his strong commitment to growing this great Club. (Learn more about Kip starting on page 30.) Member leaders and WAC staff have worked together to develop and approve strategic, operating, and capital expenditure plans for fiscal 2014–2015. We will take care of this beautiful building and facility, continue to grow our member- ship base, and push forward an even better member experience. e year ahead will bring exciting physical improvements, more and different offerings, and a continued commitment to evolve the WAC in technological and other ways to meet the needs of our membership. e Club is a community, a place where lives get better. You like great food and beverage? at's at the WAC. Executive Chef Eric Floyd and his team will impress you. You like to watch football? at's right around the corner, and Hagerty's will be jumping before and after Seahawks home games—and every weekend during the season. Watch your favorite teams play on a dozen big screens. (For an added bonus, read our Wellness article starting on page 28 to learn how your sports passion and enthusiasm are actually good for you … scientifically speaking, of course!) As members, not just customers, of this great Club, please participate and make it even better. Support the restaurants and catering. ink of the Inn for out-of-town guests or downtown "stay-cations." And very importantly, share the member experience with your friends and colleagues. Tell your WAC story, the narrative of how this Club makes your life better. A growing and active membership is the best way to ensure first-class facilities, more amenities, and the vibe and energy that distinguish the WAC. Summer is wonderful. Keep your WAC a part of it.
