I've been a proud member of the Club for the past 24 years and consider it my home away from home. During this time, I've witnessed the WAC transform from a private downtown athletic facility into one of the most respected and recognized clubs in the nation. It's no coincidence that the WAC has won the coveted 5 Star Platinum Club of America award every year since the award's inception in 1997. ese kind of accolades don't happen without hard work, diligence, and a dedicated team. It also starts with leadership, and it's been a privilege to serve and observe under Immediate Past Chairwoman Marilyn Boss and her predecessor, Jeff Atkin. Jeff provided a steady hand and showed incredible fortitude as the Club continued its recovery from the recession. Under Marilyn's watchful eye, the Club achieved its best membership growth since 2000. We look to continue this trend moving forward. I give so much credit to WAC President & CEO Chuck Nelson and the rest of the executive team for setting high standards of excellence for the performance of the Club. When many other clubs were regressing, the WAC was investing—both in human capital and capital improvement projects. ese types of strategic investments ensure the Club will continue to operate at optimum levels. One such improvement project currently under way is the remodel of the men's 6th Floor shower area. is project will be completed later this summer and bring a fresh new look to an area that receives heavy daily usage. Looking ahead at the coming year, I have a tremendous sense of optimism. e WAC's location, in the heart of vibrant downtown Seattle, continues to be one of its greatest assets. ere remains an incredible opportunity to leverage the rapid expansion and changing demographic of the downtown area—from both a member-recruitment and service-offering standpoint. ese topics will be explored in great detail throughout the next year. Once again, it's an honor to have been asked to serve as your Chairman. I'm looking forward to my upcoming term and to working with the Board of Governors, executive staff, team members, and member volunteers. It's going to be a terrific year! Best regards, Invested in the future
