Join us at the Tri/Cycle Club's March social, where three panelists will cover gear, safety, training, and achieving goals. Scott Lautman, marathon and international open-water swimmer will be the featured panelist. Guila Muir, founder of Say Yes! To Life Swims, and WAC Aquatics Supervisor Jennifer Mesler will also speak at the event. 6 –8 pm; Hagerty's Clubroom; free to all WAC members and their guests Kids Indoor Triathlon Training Saturday, March 29, April 5, 12 & 19 12–2pm During this four-week training camp, junior WAC members who plan to participate in the WAC Kids Indoor Triathlon will get all the information they need. Taught by a WAC personal trainer and swim instructor, this program will teach the mechanics of a triathlon, including safety tips, stretching, how to pace, maintaining a training schedule, keeping a log, and much more. Participants will practice on bikes and the track for one hour and then train in the pool for 30 minutes. Most important, this training class will reinforce the importance of being active, staying fit, trying one's hardest, and staying confident. Have fun and meet new friends! Kids Indoor Triathlon Saturday, April 26; 9 am The fifth Kids Indoor Triathlon is a great way to teach your junior WAC members healthy and fun fitness habits. Participants will ride stationary bikes, run on the track, and finish with a swim in Helene Madison Pool. All participants will receive a bib number, T-shirt, water bottle, swim cap, and snack. The event will close with a pool party with the infamous WACness Monster and an awards ceremony. Participants will be awarded a finish medal, and the top placers in each age division will be awarded prizes. The emphasis will be on participation, building self-esteem, and teaching kids their inner strength. Beginners' Triathlon Program Starts in April Have you ever wanted to complete a triathlon? Here's your chance to prepare with a group of your favorite training buddies at the WAC. This 16-week beginners' triathlon program targets the Seafair Triathlon and starts in April. Includes a training program designed by coach Julie Vieselmeyer, biweekly workshops on training-related topics, weekly group workouts, and a practice triathlon.
