Teamworks Team member OctOber of The Max reich monTh business DevelOpMent Manager Max started his WAC career as a lifeguard and swim instructor in 2008. After taking time off to visit Australia, he joined the Club���s membership team in January 2012. When asked what he does as a Membership Services Coordinator (a title he���s since outgrown), Max���s reply was ���everything.��� Vice President Membership & Marketing Michelle Pinson praises Max for always nOveMber Manuel lOzanO spOrts caf�� Manuel became a mini celebrity at the Sports Caf�� when November 2012 was named ���Manuel���s Torta Month��� in honor of one of his favorite sandwiches. Sports Caf�� Manager Anne-Marie Mennen (also known as Bumper) calls Manuel her righthand man. ���Manuel is always the first to lend a helping hand,��� she says. ���He leads DeceMber Mark Wells by example, volunteers when something needs to be done, and has perfect attendance.��� He also serves on the Safety Committee, a role he takes very seriously, and works extra shifts on banquets when needed. Manuel is known for remembering members��� and team members��� names���and their usual orders. ���His commitment to the WAC���s core values is amazing,��� Bumper says. banquet cOOk Executive Chef Eric Floyd considers afternoon and evening banquet cook Mark Wells his go-to-guy. ���Mark does an amazing job, is dependable and trustworthy,��� Eric says. ���He is always on time and a real team player. He is courteous and kind to all fellow team members and members. He is an amazing person, and I respect him as both an employee and a friend.��� Mark spent his 18 | Washington Athletic Club Magazine | March 2013 being positive and upbeat and marvels at how he hardly gets stressed. Director Member Services Michelle Van Slack adds: ���Max���s passion for numbers and knowledge of pivot charts has helped bring us into a whole new realm of understanding membership data. He has a very curious nature and uses that curiosity to look for areas of improvement.��� Max���s commitment and hard work earned him a promotion to Business Development Manager this past December. first five years at the WAC in the 2nd Floor kitchen as a line cook. For the past seven years, he has been a banquet cook on the 3rd Floor. He also handles the employee buffet in the late afternoons and evenings. Mark���s co-workers also praise his work ethic and accountability. ���Mark makes the rest of us look good,��� employee cook O. Rummel says. ���He is the nicest guy and does so much work.��� Banquet waiter Bernie Caluza says Mark is ���always happy to help with anything we need, no matter how busy he is.���
